Painter and engineer in nine semesters

Sto-Stiftung funds combined studies in interior construction in Rosenheim

From summer 2014 on, painter and varnishers can pursue a dual degree course at the renowned University of Applied Sciences, Rosenheim. The reward after nine semesters: a journeyman’s certificate as well as the Bachelor of Engineering.

Rosenheim/Essen. Dual degree programmes at universities are increasingly popular because they guarantee the connection of theory and practice. The student completes a combined university course and an apprenticeship in a craft business. The reward after nine semesters is a journeyman’s certificate plus the Bachelor of Engineering.

In cooperation with the Landesinnungsverband des Bayerischen Maler- und Lackiererhandwerks (Guild Association of the Bavarian Painting and Varnishing Trade), Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences opened the combined degree course in interior construction to painter and varnishers, too. It is tailor-made for the training of managers in the predominantly medium-sized companies of the interior construction sector and covers a wide range of trades relevant to building in existing structures. In addition to engineering and technological content, a large proportion of business knowledge provides the basis for future management tasks or the taking over the parental business.

In coordination with the responsible professors Benno Eierle and Andreas Betz, the elective subject “coatings” will be offered from the summer semester 2014 onwards. It can be credited as part 2 (theory) of the master craftsman examination in the painting and varnishing trade. For the student-apprentice, this represents a perfect linking of academic and vocational education and a real advantage.

With the financial support of the non-profit Sto-Stiftung, the renowned Munich lecturer Michael Bablick could be recruited for the course. Bablick, who has many years of teaching experience, also works as author of reference books and publicly appointed expert.

Prospective students can apply to Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences for a place in the degree course Interior Construction until June 15th, 2014.
