November Talks 2026 – Architecture in Transition

The November Talks 2026 open a new season. Initiated by the Sto Foundation, the lecture series brings 28 established and emerging architects to universities in seven European cities. Until December 7, they share their work and discuss current issues in architecture with students and professionals.

How can the built environment be transformed? What role do design methods, social responsibility, and the use of resources play? The November Talks combine architectural practice with theoretical reflection. Since 2006, the Sto Foundation has been gradually expanding this series, gives students and architects access to diverse perspectives on international architectural culture. This year, the lectures take place in Ghent, Madrid, Paris, Prague, Stuttgart, Venice, and Vienna.

In Paris, under the title “Transformer?”, the series explores the conditions for architectural change. The speakers will examine how standards, economic conditions, politics, and habits shape the way we build. Guest speakers include Josep Ricart of HARQUITECTES and Dilip da Cunha of Mathur & Da Cunha. The University of Stuttgart has chosen “Folded Space” as the theme for its program. Speakers there include Georg Vrachliotis of Delft University of Technology, Anna Llonch Sentis of Graz University of Technology and Cierto Estudio, as well as Anna Femmer of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Vienna (HFBK) and Summacumfemmer.

KU Leuven's Faculty of Architecture takes part for the second time, this time in Ghent. The program ranges from TAKK’s “Unlearning the Anthropocene” to Hooke Park’s “Prototyping Futures” and Hayatsu Architects’ “Architecture is an Art of Care.” In Madrid, speakers will include Juan Herreros and Momoyo Kaijima. Prague will host Søren Pihlmann, Charlotte Malterre-Barthes, Laura Linsi, Roland Reemaa, and Carla Ferrando. The series in Venice and Vienna will continue through December: Giulia de Appolonia speaks in Venice on December 3, and Jürgen Conzett closes the program in Vienna on December 7.

Following the lectures, participants have the opportunity to discuss ideas and to examine practical approaches. Direct interaction with the speakers provides inspiration for academic studies, design work, and everyday professional life. Admission to all lectures is free.
