Farshid Moussavi | Shaping culture through architecture
Funded by the Sto Foundation, the November Talks have become a firm fixture in the Sto calendar. These events provide a forum for renowned architects and promising newcomers to talk about fascinating case studies. This opportunity to discuss contemporary architecture is now being held at six European locations: in Stuttgart, Graz, Milan, London, Paris, and Prague. Farshid Moussavi was invited to speak in Milan last autumn, but scheduling difficulties led to the need for an additional event to be staged as well. Now, 18 February is set to see the Iranian-born architect speak at the Politecnico di Milano.
Moussavi is the founder of London-based Farshid Moussavi Architecture (FMA) as well as a professor at Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Farshid Moussavi Architecture is responsible for a range of international projects including Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland, USA, a residential complex in the Parisian financial district La Défense, and the Quran Museum in Tehran.
The firm regards architecture as an integral part of everyday life and an active agent in shaping culture. For FMA, the dynamic nature of culture requires that buildings have an in-built sense of order, a consistency against which we can test our experience.
The talk will take place on Thursday, 18 February 2016, from 18:00 in the Aula Rogers in Politecnico di Milano. Admission is free.
