Experience architecture live!
The 14th edition of the “November Talks” funded by the non-profit Sto Foundation commences in Graz on 4 November. Under the motto “Think Tank Architecture”, four stimulating lectures by prestigious architects await students and enthusiasts of architecture in the 'Alte Technik' auditorium at the University of Technology Graz.
Carla Juaçaba from Rio de Janeiro will open the series of talks on 4 November. The architect won the inaugural ArcVision Women and Architecture 2013 international award in Italy. At the 2018 Architecture Biennale in Venice she participated in the BALLAST project and also built one of the Vatican chapels for the Vatican pavilion.
On 11 November the speaker will be Jan Kinsbergen.
Guest speaker on 18 November is Swiss architect Piet Ecker. Eckert has been a visiting professor at USI - Università dell Svizzera Italiana in Mendrisio since 2014. In 2001 he established the architects office E2A with his brother Wim Eckert. His work encompasses public, cultural, corporate, retail and housing projects.
The final lecture on 25 November will be held by Lara Almarcegui from the Netherlands. Living in Rotterdam, the Spanish artist often explores neglected places, categorising and highlighting the transition of the individual places from an organised to disorganised state. As the Spanish representative at the 55th Venice Biennale, she filled the pavilion with large piles of rubble. In a time of comprehensive urban regeneration in Europe, she remains the advocate of forgotten places.
The events in Graz are part of the international "November Talks", which will be held at five additional European universities in Venice, Stuttgart, Prague, Paris and London. Students and experts can look forward to diverse lectures and free-admission at all six locations.
