Venice Architecture Biennale

To the workshop in Venice

Every two years in Venice, everything revolves around visionary architecture, pioneering concepts and creative innovations. The Architecture Biennale is a major event on the architectural calendar, attracting talent from different parts of the world. It includes exhibitions, lectures, discussions and workshops dealing with various aspects of architecture, urban planning concepts, design innovations and cultural issues.

For the practical part, the exhibition area is home to a ready-to-use workshop. The courses held here raise awareness of the need for sustainable building practice: they provide young architecture and craft professionals with the necessary ideas, techniques and tools. At the same time, they promote exchange and cooperation across industry and national borders and thus meet the tenor of our guiding principle of Head & Hand.

The Sto Foundation enables young professionals from the fields of architecture and trade to take part in these events. Here they can network and gain experience that will open up new perspectives, foster their creativity and deepen their understanding of the transformative power of architecture. Afterwards, the Sto Foundation Biennale Laballen offers participants the opportunity to discuss their results and findings and consolidate the networks they have created.

Maintenance 1:1 Summer School 2023

The German contribution to the 2023 Architecture Biennale encourages participation and focuses on supporting the younger generation. The concept includes workshops for young architects and craftspeople that deal with the recycling, repair and maintenance of existing buildings. The Sto Foundation heeded the call of the German curatorial team and took young journeymen and women in the finishing trade as well as architecture students to Venice to learn and get into action.
